CAMPOLIDE

The human form of today's Campolide is largely the result of the many people who were needed to build the monumental Águas Livres aqueduct. For this reason, since the 18th century, there have been two districts in the municipality, one for the "masters" with better living conditions and another for the "workers", which is improvised and full of huts. The road and urban redevelopments of recent decades have considerably altered the state of the latter, but without affecting the character of the old Campolide area, whose history and traditions deserve to be better known and enhanced.
