ALVALADE

Until the middle of the 20th century, Alvalade consisted mainly of fields, farms and vegetable gardens, which were used by the nobility for their vacations and later served as a recreational and sports area for the population. Some of the most important events of city life took place here, such as the cattle market and the Battle of the Flowers, which was held on the Campo Grande.
