ALAMEDA

The Alameda Dom Afonso Henriques is a street and garden in Lisbon. It was laid out in honour of the first king of Portugal, Afonso Henriques. It is just over three hectares in size and consists of a small garden at the eastern end and two large green areas separated by Avenida Almirante Reis. The Instituto Superior Técnico is located at the western end. Between the garden and the lawns is the Luminous Fountain, one of the largest monumental works in the Estado Novo.

FONTE LUMINOSA

The fountain was built to celebrate the regular water supply to the eastern part of the city. Although it was planned as early as 1938, it was not inaugurated until May 30, 1948.

IGREJA SÃO JOÃO DE DEUS

It was inaugurated in 1953 to a design by the architect António Lino and is characterized by two peculiarities: its three-nave structure and part of the collection of the old Socorro church.

JARDIM ARCO DO CEGO

The entire area is flat and continuous, without interruptions between the paths and the lawn. The paths are wide, flat and evenly paved, and the main paths are accessible for wheelchair users.
